With Horizon Europe, EU takes a step in the new funding programme aiming to boost EU’s competitiveness and growth. Between 2021 and 2027, €95.5 billion will be spent on thousands of projects empowering researchers inside and outside of Academia. All forms of collaboration will be prioritized: those between individuals or their institutions, but also those with business, industry, non-profit organisations, and the public sector.
Now, more than ever, researchers’ work will be organised in projects, ranging from doctoral research, to different forms of collaborative research up to large institutional consortia. What does it mean to researchers? How can they prepare yourself and integrate their work to the new system in order to fully develop their scientific potential?
With this workshop, researchers will learn how to plan, organise and effectively run research projects, considering practical, but also necessary administrative tasks. They will acquire notions of management specific to the EU research actions and test their ideas and skills in a set of practical exercises. This course will prepare them to optimally manage challenging projects.
Training is free of charge but the number of places is limited.

EXPERT
Dr Justyna Malkuch-Switalska has been working with European researchers and scientists since 2006 as an academic trainer and science manager. In 2016, she founded the Academic Trainers’ School based in Cracow (Poland). Her main purpose is to help researchers to use training methods in or outside the Academia, when they transmit their specific knowledge or skills to other people.
Since 2014, she has been involved with the European Commission activities, working as advisor and projects evaluator. Her main role there is to analyse the development of PhD programmes and the evolution of research careers in the European Union.
She is the author of the book entitled “Research projects. Management in practice”, published in August 2020 by Polish Scientific Publishers PWN. She is also the co-author of another book, published in September 2020, where she elaborated a competence framework for experts involved in public participation processes.
Dr Justyna Malkuch-Switalska is also associate trainer of two international trainers’ teams based in UK and in Austria. Working for European institutions and for individuals, she provides training and advisory services for young researchers, helping them to develop skills related to research management and career development.
