International scientific conference „Olbia in the Hunnic period” – 5-6.11.2021 – online

On November 5 and 6 2021, the Institute of Archeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences together with the Institute of Archeology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine are organizing an international conference devoted to the last period of the functioning of Pontiс Olbia.

The title of the conference „Olbia in the Hunnic period” initially defines the thematic scope of the conference. It will be devoted to the presentation of new materials obtained in recent years during excavations in Olbia itself and to summarize the discussion on the role of Olbia in political constructs covering its territory since the fall of the Hermanaric state in 375 AD until the fall of the Hun state shortly after Attila’s death in 453 AD.

The organizers, however, also envisage a thematic block entitled „Around Olbia” devoted to research not directly related to the specific topic of the conference but bringing a new perspective on it.

Conference languages – English and Russian.

The conferences will be organized on-line. The conference proceedings will be recorded for later publication.
